Firstly, I am a light user and full charge on my stock inspire 4g used to last around 26-30 hours.

In the last week I've noticed heavy battery drain overnight. Wifi radio on the phone is turned on all the time. GPS and background sync are always off. I uninstalled a lot of apps in the last couple of days to no avail.

I charged the battery to 80% last night and after 9 hours (the phone was untouched during this time) battery dropped to 29%. I checked partial wake usage (which was only around 5min by Android system)

Battery usage since unplugged was as follows
Display 35%
Cell Standby 24%
Phone Idle 21%
Wi-fi 13%
Android system 6%
Android OS 2%

Hoping for some help here. Thanks.

I think it might be some background apps running. get task killer and for night time set up to kill every 30 minutes.

i left my rooted inspire overnight for 12 hours with a loss of 2% and thats without task killer.

Scratch that. Never use a task killer with froyo. There's hundreds of posts explaining the reasons not to.

Mine would drain when I left it plugged in with the computer off before I rooted it.

Good luck,
