Install a different superuser app?

Hello,

I am considering rooting my Sprint GS3 following QBKing77's YT video.

However, I have a general question about changing Superuser apps.

If I root this way, would someone mind please listing the steps I would need to take to replace Superuser app that comes with Team Epic's Root zip with another app say from the Play Store?

I had an short-lived "affair" with rooting on my Epic 4g. It was successful, but I went back to stock and never rooted the phone since...

All that to say that, I don't have a ton of experience, so any tips, advice, warning are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!

First, while I know that many have used QBKing's method with success, I can personally vouch for Skunkape's method in this thread, here on AC: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...e-updated-how-root-your-sprint-galaxy-s3.html

There are lots of people here who have used it, and will be able to answer questions if you have any. I'd urge you to read the first post twice, then read the entire thread so you can see where other people got confused, and avoid making the same mistakes, then go through the process reading step by step. It took me maybe 5 minutes once I started.

Anyway, to answer your question, just download and install SuperSU (my recommendation), then use a root file explorer (like ES, or File Explorer), navigate to the System / App folder, and delete superuser.

QBKing's version of root works. The way I changed superuser apps was downloaded SuperSU (After successful root) and granted it Superuser control, then deleted the original Superuser app.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the very helpful information in your response and for sharing your personal recommendations. I think reading through the A.C. thread is a GREAT idea. Thanks again!

Thank you for sharing the way you changed SU apps. I really appreciate it! And, thanks for the extra nod to QB KING'S root method, too. I don't which one I'll go with, but glad to know how to change SU apps now! Regards, Tahe

I have looked at SkunkApe's method and that one is very similar. Either way will be fine. QBKing has wonderful videos on how to and general knowledge. His videos are actually what got me to root my Galaxy S2.
