Install in HTC one

When I click the install tab in he HTC sync desktop application. There is a message saying that my phone is set to block the installation of applications not obtained from the Android market.
So, I probably will never want to install any such apps. but this is myphone and as far as I'm concerned only I decide what I put on my phone.
So what is this all about and how to I unblock it?

Settings -> Security -> Check Unknown Sources

What carrier do you have, that they've disabled unknown sources? Or are you not understanding that the other posters are giving you directions to the setting? Scroll down my friend, scroll down.
