installed Brightness Toggle Widget, screen went black

Anyone else has encountered this issue? I dont really want to exchange my phone if I dont have to.

Basically installed the app, toggled the screen until it went to 0%. Screen went black and I can't do anything on the screen. Tried pulling battery in and out, loading (samsung, s, verizon) screen comes on, goes black after.

I tried holding down up and down volume keys + power button. It took me to recovery screen. I did wipe data/reset to factory settings option, then rebooted the phone. Still having the same issue.

Fascinate users beware! And if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

I've seen a few threads about brightness widgets causing havoc like this.
Read it enough to know it's a problem, skimmed it enough to not remember the solution.
Do a search, you'll find something.

Sorry. No useful help here. But I can see why this would happen. At least on an LCD screen if you set the brightness to 0, you would be able to use a really bright lamp to view your screen still. But since OLED are self-emitting, "0" would mean that it's not showing anything at all. That stinks.

Also, I haven't played too much with my rooted Fascinate, but I wonder if restoring a ROM would fix the problem. Seems like it would have to (since you can see the recovery screen)

I had this happen with the Extended Controls widget. Ginormous pain in the ***.

For whatever reason, I plugged it in (one of many times I tried) and it randomly turned the screen on for long enough for me to uninstall the application. Then went black again. Two battery pulls later it worked. Totally random. Sorry that's not helpful.

Does yours still turn the screen on when you get a call?

I'm surprised the factory reset didn't do the trick. I would think that would get rid of the malignant application. Have you done a battery pull since?

What happened with this? Go get a new phone?

I think it's something specific to the Fascinate or at least the Galaxy S, because it's happened with more than one app/widget. Don't be too bitter with the devs.

Ok I got a question. I have a Verizon Fascinate SCH-i500 . I was rooted and I installed a tweak manager. I was in the car reading web site news and wanted to turn down brightness. I went to the tweak not thinking and turned it down a little. Then it was not enough then I turn it all the way down not knowing what it was going to do. I turn my screen black. I am now unable to do anything. Is this considered bricked or what. I attempted to factory reset and it did nothing. I am guessing this is under the rom settings and I dont know how to reset that to nothing. Please direct me in the right direction or tell me its nothing you can do..
