installed Radio OTA, now I can't see some apps

I installed the Radio OTA so my baseband was 2.05.00.06.11 I installed it because I work where the signal is quite weak and I was hoping the OTA would fix it. Much to my surprise after using it for the last 2 weeks, it is a mixed bag. I see more bars but I am not really getting better signal, it is almost like the iphone 4 antenna fix.

Anyway, I looked to install the NY times app and I cannot find it. Even going to Appbrain and then installing it does not work. The market says it cannot find the application. There have been other applications that I cannot find either.

Should I go back to base? Should I get the market fixes on XDA? Should I pray for the miracle of Froyo? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The "market fixes" only apply to Froyo ROMs. They won't help, and will probably aggravate your problem.

Have you tried clearing the cache? Menu>settings>applications>manage applications>all. Click on "market" then "clear cache." For good measure, do the same with "market updater."

It's because you flashed a 2.2 radio on a 2.1 install, that radio is from the 8/1/2010 leak. You should read the threads FULLY before doing anything. So you have three choices, pray that your phone can actually get and install the Froyo OTA (not likely now), or s-off your phone and flash one of the 1.x radios back to your phone, or simply install a Froyo ROM and be happier than ever. I suggest Skyraider no bugs and works like a charm. You have the radio for it now.......

This should also be in the hacks section because leaked OTA's etc are not for the common phone user.

You left out his 4th option to RUU back to stock and take the OTA if he does not need root. ;)

You can't RUU back from the 2.x basebands unless you have s-off....which I'm not sure if it would work or not because it's the exe doing version checking not the phone. It should give you the whole version is newer on the phone message.

You sure about that?
I did it twice.

His best bet is to simply upgrade to SkyRaider 2.5.2 and then go from there.

..my $.02

I stand semi corrected. I was thinking it gave a baseband is newer error when you tried. Never wanted / needed to try it myself as forward momentum is the thing to do! However the link you have given uses a flaw in the signature checking to allow you to use an RUU. Using the RUU flat out with out first flashing that different .img file will cause the RUU to fail.

I couldn't agree with you more. SR 2.5.2 has made my phone sooooo much better. Even better than SR 1.9 with an overclocked kernel. It's smoother, faster, and has more option like chrome to phone etc etc that make it so worth flashing this ROM. (CM6 will be really nice too once the kinks are worked out and potentially will be faster too!)

Isn't he going to need to figure out the radio?

I don't think 2.15 will work with the original 2.1 ROM...and I don't think he can back up the radio without unrEVOked forever.

2.x radios will cause your phone to become unstable with 2.1 ROMs. So will running 2.2 kernels on 2.1 or a mix of different numerical compatibility. I was under the impression you couldn't roll back without s-off because of the version matching. S-off turns off this check, that's what it's for and hence the reason you still have to -rw mount the system etc to make changes. But I'll take the link for what it's for because I do not plan on ever going to anything lower than 2.2 at this time.

It's not a scenerio I'm willing to consider either. If I brick this phone, it'll cost $89 to get a new one.
