Anyone know how or if I can put a DVD in my computer and copy it to the nexus . I want to put Elmo on here for my daughter to watch on trips the phone screen is just too small and speaker blows on my gnex

There is no legal way. Here at AC we don't assist in illegal conduct.

EDIT: Maybe Walmart's digital copy thing they offer might help.

It is not illegal to make a copy of a DVD you own for personal use.

You need to find a program that will convert the files to a video format the n7 can read. I don't backup my DVDs on computer so I don't know what the good ones are.

You'll need to get some software to convert it. I picked up Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper, and have been very pleased. The quality is exceptional, and a typical HD movie converts over to about 2.3-2.8GB, so I can easily throw 2-3 movies on my 16GB N7 (the 8GB model would be a bit more limiting, though rooting and using USB OTG would completely eliminate that issue). It also converts regular DVD, for which the renderings would be substantially smaller in file size.

If you'd never use it to convert Blu-Ray, but rather only regular DVD's, you can save a few dollars and pick up their older version for less.

There are other solutions out there that sell for a few dollars more or a few dollars less, but this had the best reviews/performance/ease of use for the buck from the limited research I did. There may be freeware out there that can accomplish this to some degree, but I didn't find any.

Well, there's a program that looks like it will do the trick for regular DVD's for a good bit less. If you think you'd want the ability to do BluRay down the road, Pavtube is probably a better option as it's integrated, whereas the Home of DVD Catalyst 4 software requires purchase of other elements, a quick google of which indicated would total more than the cost of the Pavtube.

Either way... Options are a good thing!

Edit 2: If you use a Mac, Home of DVD Catalyst 4 doesn't support it. But really... who in an Android forum uses a Mac?? (j/k, <3 you guys, you'll figure it out one day)

im not trying to steal it i will gladly buy the elmo dvd i bought it on google play on my gnex but you cant download it so when driving she cant watch it unless i use phone as hot spot but then you got the whole buffering issue if you have a lil one buffering blows lol also is there a way to lock the movie screen she likes to poke and kiss elmo and it stops the movie

There is an option in Play Movies to pin videos so it will download them for offline viewing, just click the icon that looks like a pin in the bottom right on the video you want to download.

You can download full movies from the play store already for offline viewing. I have already done it with the free Transformer movie we get for buying the Nexus7. I assumed you did not want to buy the movies from the play store.

I think I got it is it the Lil pin thingy lol now how do I shut off the annoying keyboard click and is there an app to child lock screen when movie is playng

Zed can Explain how to watch off line I did buy Elmo from play store

Download the app Google Play Movies & TV if you don't have it already. When you run the Google Play Movies & TV app it should show a heading of "My Movies" each one you have will also have a small grey circle button with a pin inside like [retsaw] pointed out before me. touch that button and that movie will start to download for offline viewing.

EDIT: I was just typing it as you figure it out :) and yes there are child control apps out there.

Nope sorry I bought a kid safe tablet for my sons to use so never needed one but have heard people use them.
