insufficient storage?

Ok I have about 65 mb of internal storage and I went to download an app that was 18.23mb and when it tried to install I got a insufficient memory error. How ca@ that be?

Apologize if this is a repost. But after digging through 18 pages I decided i'd just ask

The phone reserves about 40mb of memory to make it run properly. It wont allow you to install anything else after that until you delete some apps. My Evo does the same. Unfortunately, until you get froyo you wont be able to install or move app to SD to make more room.
