Interesting Phone Exchange

So I recently started having a problem where the slider on my Epic was getting extremely loose. A few days ago I took it to one of the Sprint Store/Repair Centers here in Cincinnati. They said they couldn't tighten the slider so they would exchange the phone. While the replacement phone activated, gmail synced, etc I was talking to the manager who helped me and she said this was the first Epic they have had to replace except for ones people broke by dropping them or getting them wet.
This really surprised me to hear that they have had no warranty exchanges there in the 5 or so months the Epic has been out especially as busy as that store always is. I felt pretty good with my choice of the Epic over the EVO considering there was two other customers at the same time swapping out there evo's.

Anybody else exchange an Epic out there and heard similar info from their store?

I don't have a hard time believing it. I know someone who works at a Sprint store and she told me she's seen countless numbers of Evo's returned and only one or two Epic's in comparison.

I would think it would be the other way around Chris. ;)

I can't see the EVO outnumbered the Epic in returns at all.. Slider phones usually develop loose mechanism over a period of time. I know - I had a few of those.

I'm not knocking the Evo, but I've been around the forums a long time and hav definitely noticed more mundane issues people are reporting with the Evo. Granted it could be a combination of a lot of things, but just what I've noticed ;)

How many more Evos have been sold than Epics? Could simply be a numbers thing...

my first week with the evo i had 3 of them, still on my launch day epic that the sprint store had to fix the charge port. contacts were just loose.

As a Sprint sales associate I have seen many more Epic returns than Evos. Some people love then. Others hate them.

Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk.

part of it probably is a numbers thing but even still to have one phone exchanged in 5 months is pretty damn good. the phone i exchanged was also by no means broken either. even though it was pretty loose everything was working fine and i was just hoping they could fix it since it was starting to get annoying.

also just to be clear she was just talking phones exchanged due to mechanical issues not phones returned in the 30 days because somebody didn't like it.

EVO sales have outnumbered EPIC sales about 10:1. So, yes. Reps should expect to see more EVOs.

It could also be that most phones are turned in by mail. My Epic was turned in because of CONSTANT reboots and lock ups (even after factory reset). I called Sprint and they sent me a new Epic in the mail and provided a convenient self addressed envelope for my return.

There is no way for the retail outlet employees or us can tell how many are returned.

As an Epic user, I find myself using the onscreen keyboard more than I have used the slide out keyboard. Maybe there are other Epic users out there that do the same thing, thus eliminating the loose slider problem.

I do the same. However my slider became loose within a few days. It doesn't bother me since I put the active case on it. Stops the wobble.

I had the case off for a few days and the wobble didn't bother me. I guess I got over the new phone mentality and didn't care anymore. Lol.
