Intermittent SMS Notifications on Stock ICS App

Hello!

The subject of this thread says it all. Most of the time, the stock SMS messaging app's new message notifications don't work (no status bar icon or message alert tone/vibrate). Other times, notifications work properly but these instances are more of a rarity than the norm. I've been missing on some SMS messages as a result because I didn't know I had new unread messages. Has any of you encountered this?
