Intermittent SMS Notifications

Lately this has happened alot. No matter if I reset, reboot, reinstall rom, clear cache, download sms pop up app, use another sms app

Basically the phone can be sitting idle. I hit the power button to check the time and there isnt any new messages. Ill go write a new message and open the app and see 5 missed sms messages at 5 different times. This happens randomly, not even the light blinks.

Sometimes the notifications half play, like something interrupts it during the process.

Has anyone else experience this or at least have a fix?

I am rooted using 4.0.4 AOKP Release 40

From my experience, these types of issues like to occur when the phone is having trouble waking up (stuck in a deep sleep), or when the application in question isn't able to get a data/voice connection when it wants to check for something (in this case, messages) in the background.

Can you think of any applications or settings that would cause such behavior? This would include substantial undervolt/underclock settings, as well as applications that read or attempt to imitate notifications (Light Flow, etc.).
