Internal storage question

My HTC Rezound is saving all downloaded files to the internal storage by default. If I want to access my external sd card, I have to go to mnt/sdcard/ext_sd.

Is there any way that I can turn off the internal storage? I want all of my files saved to my sd card in case something happens to my phone. I've never seen this before on an android phone.

Can I change the defauld sd card directory to go straight to my sd card and ignore the internal storage feature?

Thanks,
Chris

You can switch them if you're rooted. That's the only way if the particular app you're saving from doesn't support changing the default save/download directory.

Also, you can go into the settings on your web browser or messaging app and just change the download directory to ext_sd.

If I root my phone, how can I do that?

My messaging app, GO SMS, doesn't have an option like that in the settings -__-

Please don't take offense to this but based on your response I think you should do a bit of reading on what rooting is all about before you jump in. I'm a big fan and proponent of rooting but I'm also a big fan of knowing what I'm getting myself into.

That was taken out of context. I'm very familiar with rooting. I was referring to disabling the phone's internal storage :P

Thanks though
