Internalmem/DCIM pictures lost and DiskDigger not finding them

Hi,
This is Android 11 on a Samsung A20e.
I copied some photos from the internal memory DCIM folder to my laptop and as usual I delete the photos that I have safely copied but this time I think I actually selected the DCIM folder or all photos in this folder and hit delete. Literally 10 seconds I realised what I was doing and pulled the phone cable out from the laptop as it was deleting rather than 'safely removing'!
Since then all my photos from DCIM in the internal memory are not showing. DCIM now only contains recent photos as if maybe the DCIM folder has been re-created.
I have downloaded to my phone, DiskDigger, but the Basic Photo Search does show these deleted photos. I note that Disk Digger can't do a full scan as the phone is not rooted.
What Windows sw can I use to attempt to receover these photos from the internal memory/DCIM?
I don't really want to root my phone using MagiDiskv22 and TRWP recovery as its a work phone and don't want to brick it!

HELP?!

Thanks in advance
Staro

Hi, welcome to AC !
You shouldn't use copy method when transferring and thats where your issue is ,they might be gone . See if any members here might know a way to retrieve them.

Welcome to Android Central! Unfortunately, rooting is necessary in order to try recovering deleted files on Internal Storage. Keep in mind that the rooting process will also overwrite some of that data as well.

Thanks B.Diddy. I'm ok with losing 'some of that data' if you mean the lost photos in internal storage DCIM? I'm missing 2 years worth so if I lose a few then fine. I've downloaded 'Root Checker' and I've watched the MagiDisk v22 youtube vid but I'm unsure of the TWRP Recovery bit and I've read some bits about the A20e being a bit difficult to root. Do you have any advice/tips for rooting the A20e safely?

If you have a US version it going be very hard to root, best place to ask is XDA Forums if available for that device

Sorry, I don't have any direct experience with rooting. I agree with mustang7757, the forums at XDA-Developers.com would probably be the best resource.
