International Version vs AT&T???

So I have an AT&T LG G2 and I've done extensive research on the issues that most of AT&T G2 users are plagued with. Although I've implemented the temporary fixes, the phone is not reliable. Some times it gets great battery life and sometimes it doesn't. I was considering buying the international version so I wouldn't have to endure all of AT&T's crapware and bloatware like carrier iq. Also, isn't it safe to assume that the international version (non carrier specific) would be the first to receive OS updates being they do not need to submit them to the carriers for approval? What do you guys think?
