I just updated my phone from 2.1 to 2.3.4 and all seems ok, except for the data connection. It will connect but only for a short time before it seems to drop the connection. This happens when browsing on the phone and if i tether it to a computer (i know thats not allowed but Im not arguing that point here). The issue is clearly visible when downloading a file, the download starts normally but after 10-60 seconds it will stop. If you pause and resume the download it will normally pick up and keep going for another 10-60 seconds before stopping again.

I thought it was an issue with my phone because of updating from 2.1 straight to 2.3 or that something went wrong in the update process ( i did not loose my contacts or basic settings, only my apps were lost) however, my girlfriend has the same phone which came loaded with 2.3 and she has the same issues.

The only thing I can think of may have to do with the fact that 2.3 seems to get better battery life. Maybe there is an internal setting that kills that data after some time or something. Anyone else have this issue or have a possible solution?

I know this might be obvious but since you didn't say anything about it in the message I would try a battery pull, after that I would try re-programming the phone by dialing *228 and once that is done hit next and the phone should reboot itself. If none of that helps I would possibly take a look at some of the apps you may have on your phone. You may have a bad app on your phone that might be hindering its performance. If you have any task killers or anti-virus apps I would try deleting those and rebooting your phone and try using it without them. They have noticed that those task killers can actually be killing programs that the phone needs to have running or kill stuff you are trying to use at the time (like the internet). After trying all that, if you are still having the same problem, then I would call U.S. Cellular, let them know that you have tried all that, and they should be able to resend some information over the air to your phone to try and get it working again. Hope this helps fix your issue.
