Internet watch possible malware?

Wife opened her tablet this morning. Across one of the home pages, was scrawled something like "Internet Watchxxx" (couldn't quite make out the last 3 letters). It was upside-down, and in a font that vaguely resembled spray paint graffiti. It disappeared after a few minutes. Seems like a malware kind of thing.

Avast anti-virus had run against apps early this morning and reported clean. After the problem, I ran it again, including files as well as apps. Still reported clean.

Edit: she does not install any rogue apps. (She does click links in emails).

Suggestions? Thanks,

See if it repeats itself. I assume this happened while browsing the Internet.

It was on the device's home screen. There were other tabs open, which included browsers, gmail, etc.
