Hello world. David in CA here - I just bought a Moto X from Republic Wireless. Longtime Apple user - have Macbook Pro and iPhone 4s. iPhone contract just expired with Verizon and I finally made the long overdue switch to Android.
I'm fairly tech savvy but I'm stumped getting my Google calendar and contacts to sync/update automatically with my Macbook. I imported all my contacts so that's done. I set up the google account in my Mac's system preferences Internet Accounts. Do I need a third party app (like DoubleTwist for iTunes music) to keep my google cal/contacts continuously synced with my Apple iCal and contacts? Yes I did search but it seems there was conflicting or old advice - just want to make sure I get the most up to date info.
Thanks in advance everyone - I've found these internet forums to be a huge help.

Welcome to AC.

I'm not familiar with Mac/iOS myself but I'm sure someone will have an answer for you soon enough.

Welcome to the forums.
I have seen some instances where double twist helps. As I have not switched platforms, I am guessing here.

Something to try...can you export your info in a type of file and perhaps upload that same file to Google?
No idea if this will work...

Welcome to Android Central!

We'll keep our eyes peeled for a solution that works best for you. In the meantime, how are you enjoying the Moto X?

In my experience, calendars are one of those places where Google and Apple's rocky relationship gets in the customers way. This helps https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/99358?hl=en

Also, you might double check that the calendar app of your Android phone is using only the Google calendar, and not "my calendar", which resides within the phone and therefore won't sync properly with Google calendar.

Found the solution. Have to download (and pay for) Smoothsync for Cloud from the Play Store. Works with my iCloud account perfectly so all set. Added Airsync and Doubletwist for my iTunes sync so I have all I need.
Very happy so far with the Moto X. I know there are more badass Android phones out there right now but there is no better deal - I was able to trade in my old Republic Wireless Deft XT and get $100 from Motorola and bought the new Moto X for $299 no contract, so with the $100 trade in I basically got it for $199 - no contract, $40 a month unlimited everything with LTE. My only concern was I was coming from an iPhone 4S so I was pretty sure the Moto X was going to be at least as fast and smooth and it seems to be actually better in all aspects.

Awesome. Glad you are liking the device so far. See you around the forums.
