Hello folks,

I just joined the Forum today.
I'm buying either a netbook or a tablet this week and I was wondering which one you would recommend.
I have an online business but I work full time.
I want to be able to take this netbook or tablet to my day job and use it to run my online business when I'm not busy at work so that I'm not on the company computer.
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Wendy

That's a tricky one. It depends. What I like about Android is that it is lightweight. Developers have to work with very tight limits compared to what they can get away with on a desktop. They are more likely to make their apps streamlined without extra bloat. On the other hand, the netbook is great because you have acess to powerful desktop software... But then you are also trying to work with the limitations of the hardware.

You can get an Acer Iconia A100 for 330 dollars. That's a dual-core Tegra device. It should run pretty smooth and a lot of software is designed to work on hardware much slower. So there's less of a chance of it getting bogged down.

Now as for software, Android is going to have it's limitations. Depending on what kind of needs you have, some software might not even be available or only exists in a very limited form. There are office suites available though. Word processors, excel, power point.

I think the first question is "What do I want to do with my device", then "Does this platform offer what I'm looking for". The strength of a netbook is that you can run Windows 7 on it (or Linux if you prefer). You will be able to run Microsoft Office or similar office suites. You'll have acess to full featured applications.

Android gives you a more "on the go" experience. You can pick it up and have at it. I spend less time waiting for my applications to start up. If I'm in a rush I can just suspend my device and it wakes up instantly when I want to use it again.

Hope I was of some help. My experience isn't as thurough as others on the subject, so anyone else feel free to chime in :0)
