I am new here. Joined to learn more about android devices. I am a semi-retired, formerly overpaid software developer. I like gadgets and computing. Have run the whole range from mainframes to pcs and currently run Linux Mint 12 KDE my 4 home machines. I use a rooted Nook Tablet and have recently acquired a Nexus 7.

Obtaining the Nexus 7 was an interesting experience. I "preordered" the 16gb N7 from Google Play on July 4 and received an order acknowledgement from Google. On July 18 I received a cancellation notice from Google b/c my shipping address had a PO box # in it. The 2nd line had my physical address. I contacted them via phone. They insisted my order could not be reinstated and I would have to reorder and wait possibly another 2 weeks for delivery. I promised them free negative advertising. Google is evil. I then called Staples. They had 2 left so I called my daughter and asked her to pick one up for me. I am 65 miles away from Staples. She got my Nexus 7 the afternoon of the 18th and saved me the $12 shipping charge.

I am a Google fan. I love their software even though they often move on to the next thing too quickly and spend too little time fixing what is broken in their existing software. When it comes to distribution of new hardware the company has demonstrated complete incompetence and disregard for customer service.

I am not venting so much as just living up to my promise of free negative advertising for Google. Google is evil. Seems like their "computer program" could look in all address lines and if one is found without a PO Box they could use that address instead of the PO Box line. If they are going after Amazon, they have a bit of work to do first in the customer relations area. They will make money in spite of themselves.

I apologize if my first post sounds like a vent. I just wanted to relate my experience with Google.
