Will the Nexus 4 with an ATT SIM have similar speeds as the iPhone 4S? Is there anything hardware-wise on the 4S that would enable it to get a faster data connection?

Also, has anybody here used a N4 on AT&T in the San Francisco Bay Area? If so, what kind of speeds do you get? I am nervous about giving up LTE to on my iPhone 5 to go back to 4G speeds. Switching to T-Mobile is not an option by the way. I am still on contract with ATT for one more year.

Nothing is wrong with my iPhone 5. I want to try Android for a year until my contract is up for renewal. The Nexus 4 was the cheapest way for me to do it, not to mention the best way (pure Android experience). I am trying to figure out how the lack of certain features could affect my Android experience and be prepared for it.

Realistically, you should get about the same speeds with the two. HSPA+ on AT&T sucks. Both devices are capable of top speeds.

if you like to learn something new you shouldn't be worried using Android. I even root and unlock my bootloader on the first day I'm using it few years ago (sony xperia).

Btw there's rumor about nexus 5 will coming soon maybe its worth to wait?

Ive used a 4, 4s and N4 on TM here in Oakland and the N4 has proven to be faster. If anything get the N4 for the vanilla experience. I wont go back..

I would say wait for the nexus 5 to come out later this year. It's suppose to have LTE support from what I've read and if it's priced like the nexus 4 was when it came out, it's a REALLY good deal.

I think that is a big 'IF'. All signs point to the Nexus 4 starting at the higher price range $299(8GB)/$349(16GB). I will not be surprised it is even higher than that. Google doesn't need to sell Nexus devices at bargain basement prices anymore. They already have traction and critical install base with a core group of users who will always return to the platform.

I had Nokia 920 on at&t (LTE) then switched over to Nexus 4 on at&t, and in all honestly, I haven't really seen a big difference in data speeds. Sure it's not LTE, but I also remember the LTE speed draining the batter life of the 920 like crazy. The speed I got with Nexus 4 on at&t was fine for all my activities, which include skype, watching youtube, etc.

I suppose. I wouldn't consider it that big though since from what we've seen in the past be nexus devices are priced that low. I think the big IF is in the specs. It should have LTE support though
