iPhone games vs Android games

Good afternoon everyone. So I was at the mall bored so I went into the Apple store and was playing with the new iPhone. Now keep in mind Im switched from the iphone 3g to the HTC EVO so I'm already familiar with the iPhone. I started playing some of the games that was preloaded on their iPhones and I started to kinda miss that about the iPhone. Where can I find cool games to Android phones that are as cool as the ones on the iPhone? Like with all the graphics and the 3D and stuff. These 2D games where you just move left right up and down are kinda wack.
I dont play games that much, but it would still be nice to have a few. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

That is one HUGE area where Android really really lacks is 3D games. Hopefully they will get some better ones soon.

iOS has so many it is crazy! I have an iPad so its cool to play them on there too but I hope Android grows in this area because they are perfect for cell phones and the EVO's huge screen!!

Gameloft has some good ones and there are a few in the market like Crusade of destiny, Skies of glory, Winds of steel, and Heavy gunner 3D.

NOVA from Gameloft is all i need. And the evo plays it perfectly. A intense first person shooter based on Halo with online play.

im looking at Gangstar next (GTA clone)

the iPod touch/iPhone games are definitely overall a better gaming experience so far.

Yeah, I already brought it up once today, but the android market is waay behind the app store in games...they just got a port of civilization revolutions for crying out loud! (i love that game) But hey, it's a lot younger. After this year's market share grab by android os, I'm sure we are going to see developers double time it to get quality games out for it. (final fantasy chaos rings please!)
In the meantime, I've been really enjoying the super high quality emulators (like snesoid and gameboid) and my urge has been totally satisfied...for now!

On another note, Android will probably see better gaming by the end of the year.

My reasoning:
- Samsung Galaxy S series and Droids provide great hardware for good graphics
- HTC releasing dual core phones with much better graphics capability

To be honest, games can be optimized to run on Snapdragons... however, we probably won't see that.

Don't forget Crush the Castle, great fun too!

Android is still very young, and even younger yet is the advent of the android phones that can actually handle these iphone class games. This all started with the original Droid, and ever since then we have seen a wave of faster phones come out. Just wait, by this time next year, we'll have a ton of games!

Not the issue.
Infact, the original Droid can play games that the Evo cannot play.

HTC developed a LOT of android phones with horrible graphic chips.
It's just developers don't want to put something on the market that a lot of phones cannot handle. Asphalt 5 got bad reviews because all those old Android phones can't play them.

Until HTC releases a phone that can play games that game developers like Gameloft and whatnot can port and not worry about optimization, we won't see anything that great.

Right now we have a 2 year old Adreno GPU that has a horrible fill rate. It can do more triangles/second than the original Droid/Palm Pre, but both latter phones can play the iphone ports because the fill rate is higher.

I can go on and on.... if you want me to, lol. I regret buying the phone because of that to be honest, but it's fine now.

i would agree, but for me, coming from a pre, the lack of Voice ANYTHING (dialing, memos, search and now almost EVERYTHING) became annoying for me.

Still loved the pre, but i guess its a give and take.

BTW

Thanks for the sweet link!!! looks great to me

Yeah, with Rubenstein as the CEO of Palm, he led Palm the same way Apple would.
While Homebrew was encouraged, there was a severe lack of features and options... it was a lot of nothing masked with a good UI.
Infact, they took so many cues from Apple... like no video recording from the start. What kind of crap is that? That took till February and it was slow.

Anyway, my rant with the Pre is over.
I loved the games it could run but small screen made it meh.

Gameloft ported 10 3d quality games to the nexus one, I think the iPhone versions. But they are not in the market, you have to go right to gameloft website.

I'm pretty sure the evo would play these fine since its the same as the nexus.

I don't really want any insane 3D games. I need physical buttons to play them, I have too much of a hard time with the on screen controls.

There really is no comparison to be made, iOS wins it hands down. You hear people allt the time talking about the latest cool game on an iDevice. The Android game situation is garbage.
