Doesn't seem like the iphone mic headset works with my eris. wondering if this is different for anyone who has gone to 2.1 because i read that moto droid users were able to use the iphone headset. anyone know if there are any mods i can do to get this working on 1.5?

i too was unable to use my iPhone headset when making a phone call today. the audio works for me, but the microphone does not seem to establish any sort of connection.

I thought there was a chip that only allowed the mic to work with iPods and iPhones. I read that somewhere. Cuz I was thinking about getting one, but when I tried out my fiancee's the mic didn't work on my Hero so I went with Ultimate Ears. Oh yeah, and I'm glad I did. They are AMAZING!

Hmm I would think it would work. I use a BlackBerry Curve headset on my Eris. I have read that some BlackBerry users are able to use the iPhone headset.

Do they offer ultimate ears with a mic also or just earbuds? I couldn't find any with a mic. Can you point me in the right direction?

The mic on the Apple headset does not work on my Eris, either. (I have two, actually; neither work.) My suspicion is that the Apple bus with inline controls have a three split jack and the parts for the microphone do not match up with the ring within the headphone jack of the Eris. I could be wrong about that, though ...

I'm having no issue using the iPhone headset for calls and music. I'm on 1.5, maybe urs isn't inserted completely in the Jack or try a different one?

not sure what gen it is, I just picked it up from best buy plugged it in and it works?? it worked when I was on 1.5 and 2.1 so its not the software. Have you tried plugging in other headsets to rule out the jack? If other headphones work then you know its gotta be a broken mic in the iPhone headset you have...

The Blackberry wired headsets don't have a chip in them that prevents them from working on other brands of phones, only Apple would think to do something skeezy like that.
