iPhone to Thunderbolt

just want to start a thread for iphone users who switched to the Bolt. There are a few functions/features that i am used to in the iPhone where Android performs them slightly different.

1) if i am listening to my music and if i get a notification (email, sms...), it beeps, how do i disable notification sounds?

2) if i am listening to my music with my headphones and someone calls, the current song starts over when it returns. Also i cant answer the call with my headphones on, i need to unplug the headphone jack then pickup the phone to answer the call. I just wanna keep my headphones on and pick up the call.

I am sure there are some more things, but i am working on trying to drop my old IOS habits.

oh yeah and also the keyboard layout is different which messes me up because the toggle to switch from alpha to numbers is on the other side of the keyboard.

You don't have to toggle back and forth between the alpha keyboard and the symbol keyboard. For numbers and symbols just hold down a key and it will input the secondary character. It's called 'longpress.'

They won't shut up automatically. My solution has been to install a sound profile manager, that allows me to quickly change volume levels for different functions based on what I'm doing. Sound Manager is the one I use. other 2 questions are good ones, but the answers tend to be different

Ditch the built in music player for something like Winamp

I think they do this on purpose, because the mic is disabled when the headphones are plugged in.

It is so hard switching platforms. Every time I have done so, I have absoultely hated the new platform for the first few weeks. Android was no exception (neither was iOS), but in no time I fell completely in love.

There are lots of good keyboard replacements you might want to try out. If you miss your iPhone keyboard, check this one out.

awesome, thanks for the info. To do this stuff on an iphone i needed to jailbreak it, but thanks to the awesomeness of Android i can have my cake and eat it to.

winamp works great, i might try poweramp and doubletwist.

soundmanager works great to!

when i am in my car i hook my phone up to my speakers via 3.5 mm jack to listen to music and when someone calls i should be able to answer the call and talk. but if the mic is disabled it will not work.

Using a bluetooth solution - rather than cord - will allow you to utilize the mic.

I don't use bluetooth in my car; so, someone else here will have to pitch in some recommendations for ya.

What if my headphones have a built in Mic? Will that work? I use this all the time if I'm at the gym or on a bus/subway etc.

Poweramp is the best music player I've used on Android. Also, keeping your phone on silent overrides any noise while playing music. just remember to switch it back on

I know on the droid 2 you can keep your headphones on and still use the phone mic. I do the same thing. Sometimes I'll have my phone hooked up to pc speakers via 3.5 mm jack and listen to music. When someone calls I can answer the call and talk. Just make sure you don't press the speaker button otherwise it will not work. Again, this is for the droid 2 so idk if it's different for the thunderbolt.

Works great. I use my Skull Candy headphones with mic while working out.

haha, i didnt realize i was missing all of this goodness when i had my iphone. btw i love the lock-sreen winamp music player. didnt have that for the iphone!
