Since the s7 is bringing back the SD card, I can't find I'd they're bringing back the ir blaster too.
Hope so. And hope that they'll bring it back to the note 6?
Reckon?
I use my IR blaster every day..
and night.

My personal opinion is that it ain't a real Note unless it has a replaceable battery, IR blaster, S-Pen, and SD card capability. Without those, I do not feel it has the productivity features that made the Note the productivity superbeast that it has been right up until the Note 5. I skipped the Note 5 because they took away too much.

Let's hope Samsung brings back a (in my personal opinion) real Note next time around. Because plenty of other companies are making good large phones that are also not Notes, but have other useful features. And if it ain't a real Note, I might as well shop around again.

My Note 4 is perfect for me because of these features. Only thing that i wish i had was Samsung Pay.

If the S7 is any indication of what the Note 6 is going to be like, removable battery and IR Blaster seems like the likely omission. Two things which i would have a hard time letting go of unless the Note 6 does something else that dazzles me.

IF samsung pay works for you. I recently acquired a S6 and added my Wells Fargo card and Capital One card only to find that Samsung Pay doesnt support them.
Yet Android Pay works just fine with them. So back to my note 4 i guess. Hope we get Marshmallow soon.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. I could MAYBE work without both. But if they are in the Note 6 the rest will be all about shutting up and taking my money. If they are not, and the defining advantage is basically S-Pen, there's still a decent chance I'll pick one up if they only add SD card back, but - I'll be doing a lot of comparison shopping beforehand and I'm not famous for my brand loyalty (HTC, then an LG, then a Motorola, then another Motorola, now my first Samsung - I could live with it being my last).

My wife is a longtime fan of the Galaxy S, starting with the S2, and has owned every. single. one. - except the S6. When she heard SD was back and the S7 was properly waterproof again like her beloved S5, she just today pre-ordered the S7, and got so excited about it she went ahead and got the Edge.

Is there someplace, one feedback form, that we can fill out to let them know how WE feel?
As Note 4 owners.
And that we want the IR blaster, removable battery and sd card back?

Unfortunately for me, I'm pretty much stuck with the Note line because the S-pen is something i use for work on a daily basis. It would be a pain for me to have to use the keyboard all day long for as much notes that i take. If some other manufacturer had everything except an S-pen, it would be impossible for me to switch because of it.

So i hope they don't omit too much from the Note 6 or else i will have to wait another year to see what the Note 7 offers. I can see giving up removable battery since I'm pretty sure the Note 6 battery will be beefy but i sure would like to have the IR Blaster back.

I'm the same to an extent, but I've added a lightweight laptop to my arsenal of meeting-bound tools, so the S-Pen (while still VERY handy!) isn't an absolute must-have. Still, if someone else came out with a stylus similar to it, or a reasonably similar set of features for a regular stylus, I could live without it if they offered other stuff I liked.

With large screen, S-Pen, SD, IR, and replaceable battery (in that order of importance), the Note 6 would be a slam-dunk. Without one or more of them, it's a shopping expedition. Maybe still buying the Note 6. Maybe not.

I doubt that the IR blaster is coming back. It was included on the S6 but the S7 does not have it. 8Since it's not on the S7, I can't se it being included on the Note 7.

I started with a Note 4 and a Note Edge but I had no problem buying a Note 5 because of all the improvements. I found with my 64GB Note 5, I don't really miss the removable battery or the SD card. As far as the IR, I have a Samsung TV now so I've found I no longer need the IR on the Note 4/Note Edge because my Samsung remote controls my cable box too.

That's just an opinion I hope you know. It's still a Note phone. Would be ironic if you have a Note 5.

Yeah the IR blaster's not a deal breaker for me since I never use it at home. It does come in handy occasionally at a restaurant or bar LOL. I kind of doubt it will return but one can hope.

I don't see the IR blaster being a big hit in the newer devices. Some people use them but not enough to warrant it in the new devices.

IR blaster is just a novelty. It's not a feature everyone needs. Even if the newer phones had the IR blaster, it's commonly overlooked unless you force yourself to use it.

Not a novelty to me.
I work in an area with patients and have a lot of tvs.
The TV remote is constantly getting lost. Just whip out my phone when I can't find one.
At home, I can do everything I need with electronics..
stereo, roku, TV, surround sound, even a space heater... All from my phone.
I can't imagine why they'd take something that can be THAT useful away.
I definatly use my IR remote.

I think its one of those things that some people just dont adopt well to new technology.
NFC is a perfect example. Some people still dont use it but its slowly gaining acceptance.
I have had many phones with IR and i only used it once on my M8 to just test and see how well it worked. That lasted a day or two.
But i do like having it knowing if my remote goes out i have a back up.

Late to reply, but I find the IR blaster on my S5 Active to be indispensable. I travel a lot for work and I'm always finding myself in a different hotel room. I travel with an Amazon FireStick so I can watch what I want when i want and not be stuck with the hotel broadcasting. But there is a catch. Back when CRTs were all that was around, hotels used to lock out the back panels to keep you from hooking up DVD players, VCRs, game consoles etc. They wanted you to pay for their PPV programming. Most hotels now have flat panel TVs and don't really bother with locking out the inputs in the back anymore...however, a lot of hotel chains provide you with a remote that doesn't have a button to switch the input, or they have used some sort of software lock to disable it on the remotes or TVs. The FireStick (or Chromecast, Roku, etc) is useless if I can't switch inputs, so the universal programmable remote built right into my phone is a must have.

I was sitting in my recliner the other night, all cozied up with my dog, after a long day at work. Feet propped up. Nice.
Forgot to get the remotes to take with me.
Decided I'd watch something on Netflix and I was like, mannnn I forgot to get that remote.
Started to get up and then remembered my phone.
Badabing...
Instant Netflix and my tired feet from 12 hours of work were happy.
I just can't understand people not using that function on these phones. It's crazy easy.

I use mine everyday to control all of my tvs and stereo equipment. I never have to worry about losing the remote since i always have my phone on me. Plus i don't have to worry about buying replacement AA batteries either! It would be a bummer to lose this functionality.
