Last night, after placing my S7 on the charging stand, I began hearing a whirring sound. Though maybe it was the wife's laptop, but it wasn't in the bedroom. Turns out I located the source of the sound--it's the fricking charger! I wasn't expecting moving parts, or noise. C'mon Samsung, did you HAVE to do that? I just bought a couple of horizontal Samsung wireless chargers and don't know yet if they have fans also (for use in other parts of the house).

You should appreciate the fan considering the amount of heat a wireless charger produces. Especially a fast one

It seems very little faster than the $40 ones I picked up today. They charge roughly 1% per minute. I haven't seen the $70 w/ fan unit charge faster than 1% per minute. We have two s7's and two of each type of wireless charger. Both phones have Speck Candyshell Grip cases if that matters. The $40 ones are EP-PG920IWUGUS. Bar code is 8 - 8727606094 -1

No issues with the regular Samsung wireless charger with an Otterbox Defender case. Not fast as the wall charger. I will give the Samsung fast charging wireless pad when I get home.

I have that choetech and it's pure trash. It won't work with every plug and you have to lay the phone in a perfect spot. IT DOES NOT OUT PERFORM THE SAMSUNG FAST WIRELESS CHARGER. Your Sammy charger must be defective

I also find the noise to be quite annoying, but when the phone is charged, the fan turns off.

What I'd like to know is - is there a way to turn off the lights on the charger? It's very bright while trying to sleep

Well, I have three S7's in the household and I have three of the Choetech Fast Chargers (the one's at the link I gave) and all the Choetech fast chargers work great with the S7's. YES, like any other pad charger, including the Samsung, the phone has to placed in the "sweet spot" if you expect the phone to charge. YES, you have to have the proper adapter. As I said, I have used both the Samsung fast charger (more then one, actually 3) and the Choetech and to me the Choetech is the pick of the litter.

snipe:
The choetech only charges slightly faster but it has a weaker coil. On top of not having the fan, I picked the Samsung fast wireless charger over it. The fan is there for a reason and only time will tell.
"it has a weaker coil" ................ Huh ?????

Between the fan and the bright led light, this charger impacted my going to sleep/my sleep. The Choetech fast charger I am now using has no fan, and the led light on the pad has a sensor that dims the led light down to very dim when it is dark in the room. By the way, I see no heat issues with the S7 while it is on the Choetech and it charges faster then the Samsung.

That's the one that got me too. Softer wire? Thinner wire? Less current flowing through it? In almost 60 years in electronics, I've never come across the term (and the military has built some pretty "weak" junk). Maybe it needs some glyptal, huh?

boobookittyfk... Show something that supports your claim "The Choetech actually DOES have problems with the pad burning out due to high heat". You are talking/spewing pure crapola. Provide/post something specific to the claims you are making about the Choetech pad. What I know about has nothing to do with your claim. Provide info that supports your posts in this thread regarding Choetech pads specifically.

I personally can't hear it unless I truly try to. It doesn't bother me at all.

Mod Note: Just a reminder to keep things civil. No reason to get hostile / belittle one another.

Just pop open the charger and snip the wires leading to the fan, mischief managed ;)
