Android Central Question

Comparing my 3xl to my og pixel, I feel like it charges a lot slower. I used ampere and it said it's @ 530mA (3.8v). I'm using the charger that came in the box btw.

That'a a really slow charging rate when the battery is under 75% full. But, As you get closer to full capacity the charge rate can get that low, or even lower for the last few Percent of Charge.

I never found that app to be accurate because it used to subtract what was being used from the amount of charge.

I've used the same so charging my phone, and it had been much faster, in the 3000 mA range. The amount of charge the battery has will influence the rate, particularly if it is nearly fully charged.

Which gives you the net charge to the battery - making it a lot more accurate than measuring the amount of current going into the phone.

The amount going into the battery is the amount going into the phone minus the amount being used by the phone itself. (It's called Kirchoff's Law.)

I understand all that but most people are misled by it

If the phone is warm or you're doing a lot of work on it, that can also slow down the charge rate. How the manufacturer programmed it plays a big role too. For example, LG severely throttles the charge rate just by turning the screen on, even if the phone is sitting idle.

Most people are lucky they found out how to turn their phones on (I'm serious - I've been asked), but for those who don't want to buy a USB ammeter and do the calculation, Ampere is a pretty good app.
