Is 64Gb Enough?

My iPhone 11 is 64Gb model and it shows 30Gb used. My Note 10+ shows over 120Gb used and I have all the same APPS and Google photos etc.

I'm assuming the iPhone manages storage better especially with iCloud.

Would like to order the Pixel 4XL to replace the Note 10 and was hoping to order the $699 64Gb deal versus $799 for the extra Gb.

Is your 64Gb Pixel sufficient or do you wish you bought the 128Gb model?

Didn't you already answer this though? I have Note 10 plus and shows 74gb that I have used so far. If you are showing 120gb used, you are a heavy storage user then. The 64gb will not work for you then. Did you look at what is consuming your storage? Mine are photos, videos, and couple of large games.

You're comparing two completely different phones and OS's. It's unlikely the iPhone has the exact same apps installed as the Note10, so just because the Note10 is using much more storage doesn't mean that Android handles storage less efficiently.

If you have Google Photos set to auto-backup, then at any point after it has synced, you can go to the Google Photos menu and select the Free Up Space option, which will automatically remove any locally stored photo that is already backed up to the cloud.

But OP has already note 10 plus and 74gb taken of it. Not sure if that is since launch of that particular model or back up from previous years. I have to say I'm in the same spot. Would like to move to pixel 4xl from note 10 plus but I'm really worried about the space as I have 68gb already taken since August. Most of it is probably stuff I don't really need like Spotify playlists offline and utube videos which I guess I can stream directly to the phone. If only Google would discount the phone like in states that would push me over the fence as in UK pixel is only £70 off original price which after discount is £759 :(

Yes, you're right. Very different OS but I can't figure out how they file and store large files so differently. I think the Note 10 keeps original quality video files that now exceed 55GB.

I guess my question should have been - do most Pixel 4 owners manage on 64GB or is 128GB a must?

No one can answer that question for you. It all depends on how folks use their phones. Someone that doesn't take a lot of pictures and videos will be ok with 64gb. You have 55gb of video already on your note 10+ in just 3 months. 64gb will not be enough for you unless you are planning on unloading these videos on regular basis. Remember, Google photos does not store videos at original quality unless you are paying for cloud storage.

Yes, I manage and it took a little thought to realize it would be okay.

For my first Pixel, a 2XL, I got 128GB. Since then, I have done 64GB because I am finding I never use up the space.

I realized I don't need to keep every photo and video on my phone. In fact, by uploading to Google Photos, they are much easier to search through, lots of sharing options, and they are backed up. I can delete media from my phone once it's backed up. I do this all in original quality and pay $2/month for the storage (I use it for other things too). Totally worth it to me.

Then there's music... if you want to store a lot of music on your phone for offline listening (or not hit on your data), no way around it - you need physical memory. I don't. I have about 1.5GB of downloaded YouTube music playlists. Hundreds of songs. It works for me.

The "drawbacks" to my method are that I have to spend $2/month and I have to be a little more active about maintaining my photos/videos. I actually love it. I periodically delete photos from my phone once they are backed up. I delete all the crap photos and videos from my phone and Photos within a day or two of taking them, while I still remember what they were. Scroll searching through my photos/videos is easier because I deleted the multiple photos of the same thing, the terrible video of my class (but kept the good one I shot right after), etc.

I hover around 50% storage used.

As others have said, it's personal. Just tossing in another perspective. Sounds like you would need to start using photos backup more for it to work.

I went with the 64GB decided not to pay the extra cash ... Google photos anyway on all my Android phones ...

Based on the used market of Pixel 3, by far, most people got the 64GB version. I think people manage to get by. You will likely find a way to live with 64 GB too.

I find it absolutely fine...

I’ve c25GB of music stored for Bluetooth playback in my car and everything else is in the cloud etc... Space is easily manageable, but if you store a lot of pics/music/apps/games etc, you may use the space up very quickly.

I do agree, 64GB is very small, maybe backwards in this day and age storage wise, but it still works

I have no problem with 64gb but definitely way flagship phones have higher storage now it definitely shouldn't be a starting point . My Note 10+ and 1+7pro start at 256gb and will never use that up . For the people that will have to buy higher cloud storage or something different.

Well, I am still holding out. Once I pass the Cyber Monday, I am free.
Pixel 5 XL, take my money!

Is 64 GB Enough? Depends on your needs.

I know some that could live with 16 GB still.. and I know some that want a TB in a phone for w/e reason. Just depends what you do/store on your phone.

Could be one of the reasons they are for sale.
64 would be a struggle for me. I keep hi res audio files on my device so that's why I need extra storage. Even 128 is tight for me, but that's just me. One thing too consider is never run your device too close to max because a couple of people did that with a Pixel 2 and the phone wouldn't boot up.

64 gb worked when Google offered unlimited photo storage. Now it's pretty much a non starter. 4k videos turn into 1080p now which sucks for the pixel adopters.

Thanks for all the replies - much appreciated! I have now ordered the 64Gb model from BHPhoto and should be here in a couple of days. Sale price of $699 all inclusive!
