Is Android a mentality?

Yeah I kinda agree with you, however it seems to me the arrogance of knowing so much about your BB over there led to an intolerance toward BB beginners. I can't count how many times I've heard "Search is your Friend!"
I mean I understand that multiple posts can be annoying and crown the forums but I think a little courtesy and respect goes a long way. I have faith that this AC wont be anywhere near what CB is. :D

I've seen people here mention the Search function but they were nice about it. I thought it was sad that a new person always had to begin their post with "I did a search and couldn't find anything so please don't yell at me" no matter what the post was about. I think AC is a very laid back community and I'm glad to be a part of it.

I still go to the CB forums from time to time and am amazed with how many people are involved in Carrier Wars.....lol No matter what anyone posted about their carrier it would turn into a war for some reason. I'm so glad that doesn't happen here :)

I have a feeling that many who post in these forums are of a slightly older persuasion than might be found on other forums, hence giving a greater level of maturity than I have seen on other boards.

Phil.

Yeah, kids are annoying. But, there's an app pre-installed on the Droid that increases the user's age by 10 years.

I've spent a year building up the iPhone blog forums before this and it was no different there. When I started there it had maybe 2 thousand members and now it's close to 30,000 and it keeps growing. Personally I try to weed all the bad seeds out early by letting them know I or any of the mods don't mess around. Whether they are disrespectful to other members when they have 5 posts or whatever they do to aggravate myself or someone else, I let them know. Either they act like a baby and never come back or they respect the forums. Pretty simple. :)

tipb I think does a good job staying relevant. That's imho, why it attracts so many members. I think like you say though, encouraging respectful behavior will foster positive discussion that people enjoy. I know I find it very engaging and fun to banter here with everyone. I think these forums have been like a primary pipeline for finding stuff out that I'm interested in. AndroidCentral could do a bit better on talking about some of the apps that are getting higher quality. I know I've run into a few really good ones.

I'm on the beta mailing list for the new Geocache app, and all I can say about it at this point is FRICKEN SWEET! If I can get permission from Groundspeak to post screenies I'll definitely have em up here, maybe AndroidCentral could pimp out the story a lil bit?

;)

I try to get as many app posts done as possible but with TiPb being my primary focus and my day job my time is limited. I'll look into the app you mention but no promises.

10-4

I don't wanna piss off the dev and post about it too much tho, so any further info I'll just PM you on.

One thing I like about this forum is that there isn't hostility towards newcomers :) It is like XDA, people welcome new people (at least on the Vogue and Raphael forums), and are helpful.

Scolding newbies for being newbies is counterproductive, it's like taxing the poor for being poor.

I have said it in a few threads, people act a lot more mature here (whether they are mature or not!) and that is why I keep coming back. Another advantage to this forum is how clean it is.

Maybe the frustration of having to install leaks and the constant battery pulls to get a BB working is spilling over into their forum life.
.
I completely agree with that, i still am dealing with my defunct curve 8330m without even a unstable 5.0 leak( Heeeelllooo Supersonic. where have you been all of my life?) but on CB it also has to do with your wording and who finds your question first. I am new to the smartphone game but have learned emense amounts through their forum. However I don't lurk as much here and find this community much more home like. On AC I don't feel stupid asking. I can't wait to jump ship and only check CB for my crackberry addicted mother who won't come to the light.

Sorry Kevin, blame the flamers.............. and RIM

All true facts.
Gotta love these boards.
