AC Question

About three months ago, my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 begin experiencing battery issues. I read some threads stating that the stock battery is only good for about 18 months.

It just so happens that around the time I got my new battery I began updating apps including an update for Google Play. Ever since then my phone begins to automatically reboot. I did a factory reset.

Oddly enough with the original Google Play app on the phone the phone worked fine. After I updated Google Play the forced reboot started again. Unfortunately I was required to update Google Play In order to operate some of the apps on my phone.

Wondering if there is anything similar reported to Google or within this forum.

I've about had it with Samsung products and am eagerly awaiting Nokia's Android phone.

Welcome to Android Central! Was this an update for Google Play Services, or for the Play Store app?

Does the same thing happen in Safe Mode? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28897

I have identified that Play Store 7.6... and prior do not force any reboot. It is when version 7.7... and above got pushed out in April that caused this issue.

Under safe mode, no reboot occurs. However, I don't believe Play store is actively searching for updates for the apps that are on my phone.

When I uninstall the updates to Play Store and revert back to the factory version (6.8...) for the brief moment that it operates on that version, my phone is perfectly fine.

The reboot occurs like this...
All apps are updated.
Play Store settings have auto updates and auto push disabled (I must select update to push the update through).
Phone works fine.
When an app update becomes available, phone becomes sluggish, often freezing, and then forces a reboot.
After logging back into the phone, I go to Play and "My apps and games" and see that there is a new update waiting to be pushed.

I'm a bit upset I lost my reply submission.

1. Does not happen in safe mode.

2. Current play version is 7.8...

3. Started when ver7.7... was pushed in April.

4. Factory ver6.8... through 7.6... just fine. No issues.

5. Case opened with Google.

Typical reboot encounter. Play settings have auto update/push disabled.

All apps up to date. There are no pending apps.
Phone works fine for a bit.
Phone starts to slow, freeze, and then reboots.
After logging into the phone, I open Play Store and find a new app update waiting for me to push.

Cycle repeats when a new app update appears in the Store.

The initial post was automatically flagged for Moderator approval by the forum software for unclear reasons -- I approved it just now.

Have you already tried going to the App Manager, selecting the Play Store, and clearing cache/data? Do the same for Download Manager as well.

That's really strange. Did you actually get in touch with a Google rep directly, or did you only start a thread in their product forum?

I contacted Google directly under the Contact Us link from the Play store app.

This 7.9 version is doing the same thing.
I just wish I could keep v7.6 and not be required to have the latest version to operate some of my apps.
