Is backup possible on Photon 4G w/Bootstrap Recovery

My question is this: Can Bootstrap Recovery backup the Photon 4G and can you flash that backup to the phone?

qbking77 has a video (How to install Bootstrap Recovery on the Motorola Photon 4G (clockworkmod) - YouTube) for installing bootstrap recovery but he doesn't say anything about backing up.

He says that you can't flash rome that need an unlocked bootloader, which i know but does the bootloader need to be unlocked to make a backup and then when the time comes can you flash that backup back on the phone if it glitches?

Any input would be great. thanks.

You can create a nandroid backup using Bootstrap. But I would only do that on stock, not custom ROMs like Alien, and Homebase. There are some technical details that I know nothing about, but supposedly it'll screw your phone up and you'll have to reset to stock. I flashed Alien using Boostrap, but got too many force closes when I first started out.

So with that said, if you need 4G, don't run any custom roms (though there is a way to get 4G with Alien Rom..it's a tedious process)...but you can create/restore backups for your stock set ups.

I've updated my phone and still on stock, I'm going to root soon, just need to find the time.

So once rooted, You are saying i can make a backup of the stock rom that is on my LOCKED photon using the bootstrap recovery method that qbking77 displayed in his youtube video and then restore/flash the stock some other time if it comes down to that?

Yeah...right now my phone is locked and I use Bootstrap to backup/recover. Again, I'd probably use a combo of Titanium to freeze your apps and then Bootstrap to nandroid backup your phone.
