Is face unlock as secure ad on Pixel 8

I haven't read or heard if the face unlock is the same from the Pixel 8 series? It cold be used for google pay and banking apps etc.

Face unlock is convenient, but from my understanding; it's not as secure on Android as it is on an iPhone.
