Is factory reset my best option?

I acquired a Nexus 9 that was used as a retail demo. Because of it's demo status I am not able to get into some settings. I'd prefer to do a factory reset but it says that I will need the password for the Google account installed to finish the reset. What's the best way to get this device back to original condition? All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Try the basic password like 12345 or 00000 and if it still not works, then Hard Reset would be the only option.

The best way would be to have the store that sold it to you take it out of demo mode.

The next best option is to reflash the stock ROM.

If you can't do that, you'll have to find a JTAG service (look on eBay) that can flash the ROM for you.
