Is hard reset really necessary for update?

Hello guys.
My company has released 4.4.2, I got the notification some days ago.
I have no yet installed it, because my current 4.2.2 works perfectly... (I'm about to get to 1500 hours of activity)
And a question arises: is really necessary to perform a hard reset after installing the update?, I don't really like the idea of having to configure everything again...

Would a pre install hard reset do any good?

I would like to know what you guys think.
Thanks for your time!

It may help to prevent bugs, but it's not necessary, otherwise they would have mandatory it and caused all android users to lose their data in the process.

I didn't factory reset mine for it.

I have found any small quirks that arise after updates are usually gone within a week and a few reboots

It makes no sense to do so. The Update will obliterate anything that it is meant to update. But, doing the hard reset should cause no issues other than waste a little time and give a little warm fuzzy. :)

Writing Update software is quite a complex thing for the programmers so they tend to err on the side of caution and smash anything that might possible or rarely cause any issues before dropping the update code on it.
