is it just me or are the pixels on the fascinate overly grainy? I was kinda pissed to open up this forum and see that the thread titles were hard to read not because they were small but rather because they are grainy. I know this isnt a retina display but I know that the evo's and dx's screen arent nearly this coarse... Did I get a bum screen or are you guys noticing this as well?

I don't notice it. I think the display looks awesome. Best yet on a Droid.

Yes...grainy is a good word. The Droid X and Droid 2 are a lot smoother. That's my main issue with the phone really. The display just isn't all it's cracked up to be. I definitely prefer the X over it when they are side by side...without a doubt in the world. I've got no problem with it when I'm not comparing them to each other tho so it's not THAT bad at all. :)

Yes, I know what you mean by grainy, and less sharp. This is a comparison image posted on HoFo between the Droid X and Fascinate's screen (Fascinate on top, Droid X on bottom):

My wife just got it and I thought the same thing. Not as clear as I thought it would be. It's about the same as my incredible. Nothing like my ipod touch 4g, that thing is crisp. No pixelation at all. I hope we get an android phone with a screen like that.

I notice some pixelation but it doesn't bother me. The pros definately outweigh the cons.

I see it here and there. Facebook pics that have been synced with contacts look horrendous. Looks like 8-bit graphics. Is there any way to fix this??

Wow thats rather disappointing, glad I kept the Droid X as nowdays tend to do more web browsing than gaming.

This is a known tradeoff of amoled technology. You can read about it in the following link (it compares amoled to LCD technology and speaks to the clarity difference.)

Secrets of the Nexus One's screen: science, color, and hacks

While the amoled screen pops color-wise v. LCD it really is a matter of personal taste. Crisper text and more natural color of the LCD v. less crisp text with saturated, poppinng color on the amoled/super amoled display.

But the Incredible facebook pics look way better and that is an AMOLED screen. I dont think Im being clear about how bad they look. Its extremely fuzzy and you can barely notice the person. My Blackberry Tour was much clearer than this.

Yes, in the contacts window. They look terrible, like atari graphics. Almost like it didn't render the pictures 100%. Maybe I should delete all the contact and redo? Does anyone know how to delete all contacts?

Here's a shot of mine.. Is this what yours are like quality wise? I've never had the Droid Incredible, so I can't compare.

Here's the link to the full 8MP image if you want to pixel peep.. (~5MB)

Well I decided to go ahead and wipe the entire phone and start completely over. Then found actually had a problem with facebook syncing with the phonebook although facebook and the contact were synced. So I had to go back in and delete the facebook account and re-create the account and everything synced.

The pictures are much better now. Thanks for your help!
