I have successfully flashed my htc one into a google play edition one using twrp and superuser. I only installed the rom. When I went to use the camera app, I noticed it was not at all as good as the stock sense camera. Now idk if i'm overthinking this, but is it possible I need to find and install the gpe kernel?

No Zoe/Highlights and not as many customization tweaks for your photos. The GPE camera is solid enough for everyday use but if you rely on the HTC camera features you might be disappointed. To me giving up the custom HTC camera features was a very small price to pay for having fully supported stock Android on the most beautiful Android device to date.

I'm sure, if you search for it, you can probably find the HTC camera APK to install. I'm in the same boat with my GS4. I wanted the stock camera for photosphere, but don't want to lose the features of the TouchWiz camera. So I have both installed.
