Is it possible for a clipboard to just clear?

I had texts and pictures in my clipboard, some were even locked to the board. Then suddenly when I checked it, everything was gone! Even the locked posts!! Can a clipboard just randomly erase my things? Because I didn't touch anything, or unlock any posts.

Welcome to the forums. Did the phone reboot? I think the clipboard is a temporary saving place, meaning once the phone is rebooted that memory gets cleared.

Maybe a nomenclature issue? Clipboard is a Windows convention, a temporary storage area for cut and paste options, as @Golfdriver97 noted. The clipboard in Android devices only has one action stored at a time. I'm thinking you're talking about an app that you were using, or maybe a cloud account? Need to define what you're asking about.

The phone did not reboot. Even when I've turned it off and back on, there has still been items in it before. It's not an app. it's the copy & paste tool but it holds up to 20 or so things, including screenshots and copied texts.

When typing a message in a memo or for a text, you access the clipboard by tapping and holding down in the text space. Then it will give two prompts, "Paste" & "Clipboard". Or you can access it when the keyboard is open, by long pressing the 'Voice to text' button, where it will give options, including emojis, settings and the clipboard.

"Paste" & "Clipboard"

I'll be dinged, you're right. I have never seen that before! Maybe wasn't holding long enough, but it is on my S8+. Hmm, now will need to figure out how much it holds. Clearing it was easy, maybe you hit the clear button by mistake?

I have hit the clear button before, but it doesn't delete any locked post. It's very strange that the whole clipboard, even the locked ones, got cleared. Perhaps some one else went on my phone and deleted items, but I'm not sure why they'd do that. Which is why I was wondering if there's any way to clear everything by accident.

I don't recall hearing about this before, or if I did, it is such a rare event that I don't recall. Did anything else happen to the device, like a system update or something?
