Is it possible to get a verizon galaxy nexus to work on T Mobile?

I have a friend who is vision impaired and the Nokia Lumia she has on a pre-paid plan with T Mobile is impossible for her to read. I have an old Samsung Galaxy Nexus hanging around and she is able to read it much more easily, but Verizon, T Mobile, and Samsung have been little to no help getting this phone to work. After getting bounced from one to another all day (literally), someone at Verizon finally told me that the two systems are different and incompatible, but that there is a way to do it. HOW? She doesn't have any money to spend on another phone and she likes this one. Any ideas? Thanks!
