How do I fix Chromecast with old TV setup issues?

Hello everybody. I received a Chromecast as a birthday present, but have a very old tv (not HD, no VGA or HDMI input). I have my Chromecast set up in the following way:

1) Chromecast is plugged into a converter which converts the signal to VGA.
2) The VGA chord is plugged into a device that converts this to AV chords, which I have plugged into the TV.

The audio sounds fine, but the image is cropped to the top left portion. I believe the 2nd device is doing this. Does anyone have any advice?

A converter may work but I wouldn't put full faith in that since a HDMI slot is what it's supposed to be plugged into. Worth a try if you want to do it.

I believe you're correct - and a really good HDMI-to-VGA (or composite) converter would probably cost more than a 19" TV on sale at one of the big box stores. I recently bought a 24" Best Buy (Insignia) for about $150 when my old 19" Insignia went bad. (No complaints - it earned its retirement.)

Or you could use this as an excuse to go for a 70" set.
