Is it still worth it?

Is it still worth buying the OPO when we're so close to a bunch of new phones? I have an HTC m8, lust after the OPO, but wonder if I should just wait it out for the next gen of phones.

So, what do you say? Still worth getting?

If you sell the m8 for at least 350,then yeah, do it! If not, then you may wanna wait.

The OPO is still a great phone but it has some bugs (for example, auto rotate stopped working for me) perhaps, and it may not be as spectacular a value as it was a few months ago, but it is still a great value. Speaker isn't that great though.

Edit: a reboot has fixed my auto rotate. Actually, the OPO is still an extreme value due to cyanogenmod. It's not clear whether the next one will have it.

For phones that are factory unlocked and easy to root the OnePlus is awesome. It's still great hardware but there will be a bunch of new phones coming out this year with the next generation of processors and displays. The problem is that's an expensive game if you play it (but NEXT year...). I bought my OnePlus just for building custom things. Currently I've got the AOKP ROM on it (just for fun). It won't be the latest hardware next year (or even shortly) but it will still be good enough hardware for the next two years or so, which is all you can really expect from the consumer landfill industry that cellphones has become.

1) If you need a phone out of contract(IE: Paying full price) its still a great buy.
2) If your practical and don't care whether you have the latest phone its still a great buy.
3) If you don't mind waiting and perusing and participating in the One+ forums and can buy the instant you get an invite. Its still a great buy.

There's definitely a TON of factors that determine "Is it worth it?" but there's no doubt that for $300 out of contract there is no better Android device out there. So if you're looking for the best Android device at that price point, it's definitely worth it. In the past 6 months there has been many other devices that are equally as good if not better (Nexus 6, Note 4, Moto X, etc) but those are all $500 or more. If money is no object you may want to consider those devices but for money you're not going to get much better. I use a OnePlus One and an iPhone 6 everyday. There's not a huge difference in basic everyday tasks (web browsing, email, texting, facebook, instagram) and my iPhone cost me $749 ($400 more than the OnePlus One!). Obviously, using an Apple device has its benefits besides the basics but it's crazy to think you can get a very similar experience on a phone at the One's price point.
