Is it time to replace my battery?

I've has my N5 for over a year now and while the battery life has never been great it has been just downright awful lately. I used to get around 4 hours SOT while at home and around 3 hours at work where the cell signal and WiFi aren't the best. Lately I am lucky to get around 3 hours SOT from home and can barely get 2 hours while at work. I keep experiencing weird battery drains as well. Yesterday Chrome ate up 24% of the battery according the battery graph on lollipop for example. I keep seeing google services draining the battery a lot as well despite the fact that I have literally turned everything off....

I've already cleared the cache partition and done the dreaded factory reset. I need my N5 to hold up until September when I am due for an upgrade. Should I get a new battery? Is it difficult to replace the battery? Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can buy one at a decent price? Thanks for this support!

My battery if fine now but I might have to replace it one day. Can you bring it a repair shop to replace the battery? I am very clumsily and I would be afraid of breaking it. Of course I can have my uncle do it but most of the time he is in Pennsylvania.

Do a quick search in Google maps for Cell Phone Repair in your area. There are a handful close to me when I did a search. Radio Shack does have some "in-store" repair services.. Batteries Plus also does battery installation.

I can't vouch for either of the guys above, but it's a start.

What did you do to get your battery acting normal? I recall several posts from where you were having issues as well.

Where did you order your battery from? The reviews from amazon and eBay don't sound good....

Agreed. I just looked at Amazon and the reviews are all over the place. I have already been scammed once with a fake/used battery for my Nexus 10 that was 100% defective... I don't want to go through that again.

Some say they have problems with QI or NFC (although that is probably user error), some say the life is very poor, others say it isn't even the correct size. And the NewPower99 one costs almost FOUR TIMES as much but only has 3 reviews- not enough to know anything.

I got it through Amazon, I am not at my PC right now but will see if I can find a link later.

I am only talking about sudden battery drain which a reboot fixes so now I reboot every night.

Oh no this doesn't sound good at all, then it must have something to do with the ROM. Maybe there is a battery saving custom ROM anyone can recommended.

I replaced my battery, and still have to horrible battery life. on standby, I'm losing 20% an hour! SOT is like 1.5hours.

Are you running Lollipop, if so did you do a cache partition wipe, and if that does not get it you may need to do the dreaded factory reset. The cache wipe will not wipe your data or apps, however, the factory reset will so you need to back up what you want to keep.

Agreed. Perform a cache partition wipe procedure. If that doesn't help, it is factory reset time. A last resort is a factory image flash (which I had to do on my Nexus 10 when it got slow as molasses for no apparent reason after the 5.0.2 update) although that can be rather complex.
