lost.dir safe to trash?

trash? I have a Galaxy 4 running 4.4.2 with 16GB internally and a 32GB card and, in spite of only having a few downloaded apps, doesn't have enough memory to run system update. Is lost.dir all extraneous stuff? Is it safe to delete? Any other suggestions to free up some memory? Thx for any help!

Re: lost.dir safe to trash?

Welcome to Android Central! LOST.DIR can be deleted, but it will be regenerated by the system. I believe it contains fragments of lost or unrecoverable files. For example, if a photo gets corrupted during transfer, or if you're taking a video and it doesn't save correctly, it gets moved to LOST.DIR. You can sometimes recover files like this if you know where to look.
