Yes, the stock Android 8.0.0 Oreo OS, which ships on all Moto E5 variants including the Moto E5 Play, E5 Cruise, E5 LTE, and E5 Plus, is basically a pure vanilla Android build with little bloatware. Moreover, OTA updates/security patches have been frequent and consistent since the device's launch.
Because the Moto E5 series is Project Treble supported, custom ROMs such as LineageOS 15.1 Oreo and LineageOS 16.0 Pie are extremely simple to port and flash. As an owner of two Moto E5 Play devices, I can personally attest that OTA updates have been very forthcoming. Finally, the battery life is very above average. Normal to moderate use can easily exceed one full day before charging is needed. With support for Qualcomm's QuickCharge 3.0 technology, the battery can be charged from 0 to 50% in around 32 minutes, and fully charged in just over 75 minutes. So for anybody considering the purchase of one of these devices, don't bite off on the BS that it's just a cheap, low-end device with a shoddy camera and little update support. Nothing could be further from the truth.
