Is MusicFX preinstalled on your device?

I just noticed today that MusicFX is running (as a cached process) on my device. It's not under GooglePlay installed apps, or downloaded apps, but if I go to Settings->Apps->All it shows up there. I did not install it and when you click on the app info, it only allows disabling it, not uninstalling. Also, it runs only in the background. I cannot actually interact with the app.

Does everyone else have this app too? Was it installed by Asus or Google?

It's a process that is needed for Android.

Yea its an android system process used for processsing sound effects with your audio(think of beats). Its preinstalled on almost every android phone now.

Hi 6trtr, MusicFX is the sound effects dashboard popping up in music apps when selecting sound effects. For Gingerbread and HoneyComb you had to download it from Google Play, but since ICS Google included this dashboard in the OS.
If you still download it from Play you will see it 2 times (and you will have an App icon as well).

My understanding is that it is not a required process for Android and it only applies to the stock music player. If you're using n aftermarket music player, you don't need it. I've had it disabled on my Nexus 4 with no issues.
