For some reason my GPS will not find any satellites. I was running REBORN ROM 2.1. I thought it might be some app messing with it so I reflashed to REBORN ROM 2.2.4 and with the base install I still can get any satellites. Is their any chance this can be fixed? Thanks for any advice!

Try going into your settings and making sure its enabled. If not, try reflashing your kernal

I double checked the settings and GPS is defiantly enabled. I haven't reflashed a kernal before. Do you have any instructions you can pass along?

flashing a kernal is like flashing anything else just create a nandroid, then clear cache and dalvik.

Just go to custom recovery. Clear cache and dalvik, install zip from sd, then pick your kernal. I reccomend picasticks 07

I had the same issue, flashed/re-flashed, ended up reverting to stock everyhring, still no go, hooray TEP, I pick up my new phone Tuesday.

My wifes phone was doing that - rooted, stock rom, still on v9 radio - and all I did was go into the (stock) recovery and clear cache and reboot. Maybe I got lucky, but it was that easy that it could be fixed with stock tools. She wasn't excited about me having to redo the whole phone anyway...

Thanks everyone for you input. :)

I just cleared my caches and loaded a copy of picasticks 07. Still no change. Any other sugestions? :-\

I had the same issue. I was rooted running last ThunderRom. Tried clearing cache and reflashing. Clearing cache, data and reflashing. Returned to stock and tried doing a hard reset a couple times. No go.

Finally took it into sprint... they reflashed stock a time or two and re-configured the nvram items. Still no go. I got a refurb for $35.

Unfortunately the radio in the refurb is a serious battery hog... I get about 1/3 the battery life on 3G as I did with my old phone. I'm now using Green Power to auto-turn on/off data sync so my batter life is now back to what it was on my old phone.

btw... I used an app called GPS Status & Toolbox to check sat locks.

Try the steps in that post.

Do a nandroid backup, reflash to stock VD, update PRL and Profile, reboot, see how GPS performs on Stock VD

If its all good, restore your backup you made and you should be OK.

Thanks for the instructions. I made a nandroid backup of my own just after GingerBreaking, so restored my own backup. Then updated PRL, Profile and rebooted

Unfortunately GPS still seems to be dead. :( It is looking like I may have to send this back to LG for repairs.
Is there anything else I need to do before sending it back?

unroot and return to stock if you haven't already.

I couldn't be without my phone for 2 weeks so I just went in to a sprint store and picked up a refurb when my GPS died. I'm guessing you can't afford $35 or you don't like the idea of a refurb?

Yea, as the prior poster said - just get a refurb.

Save your current nandroid backup and put the sdcard in the new phone.

Once you root and flash the custom recovery on your replacement phone, you can flash your old
nandroid backup back on and you should be good to go.

I can afford the $35. I'm just really cheap. ;) .... But the more I think about it I probably couldn't get by without my drug of constantly being 'connected' and may have to shell it out.

Yeah, same deal here... I have and old flip phone I could have used while waiting for a repair but I like having my calendar, email, gps etc. with me at all times. It's hard to do without it now.

Ok, this is strange.

I restored my nandroid backup of RebornRom 2.2.4 until the weekend when I would have more time to restore to original and unroot.

BUT... yesterday I got a Google Map update and since then my GPS is working again!! :D As I recall it was just after a Google Map update last week that my GPS stopped working. I just never made the connection. I wonder why the Google Map app would affect other GPS apps like GPS Test and GPS Status. And restoring to previous backups and pushing a new kernel didn't help.. Mainly I'm just happy not to have to exchange my phone and I wanted to share my experience.

Thanks

What a coincidence since the last google map update my gps stopped working :O

Like you I flashed multiple roms , kernals ect wiped everything over and over.. cant get nothing to work and used both GPS test and GPS status to no avail ;\

Maybe if I wait a few days like you mine will start working again :-X
