Is my HTC one M8 toast?

I dropped my HTC one M8 in a sink which was full of water two days ago. I did not turn it off as I did not realise that this would help the phone. The screen is just black and I have tried rice for a day already. However, when I plug the phone into charge, there is a solid orange light, implying my phone is not completely dead.
Is my phone dead? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Welcome to Android Central. I honestly would consider it dead. Right now, the screen seems to need to be replaced. Since water damage can still possibly show up later, in a couple weeks, the power button may not work, the speakers may go out, the list can go on and on.

If you have insurance, now would be a good time to get the claim process started.
