Android Central Question

It started with what the repair shop for HTC called "mechanical damage" and would not change the screen unless I payed MORE THAN THE PHONE COSTS NEW for it, which naturally I declined. Then the blob/area of damage increased in size over a month, and now I see light bleed through when the screen is black, yesterday the screen would not respond the first couple of times I pressed the power button to wake it, and today it has started making a jarring noise whenever I hang up on anyone.

Are these known problems with this phone, and is it about to totally die?

Thanks.

The phone isn't dying, the screen is, so you need to have the screen replaced.

Might be cheaper to get a new phone. Why is screen replacement so expensive on this device.

Welcome to Android Central! So has there been any damage to the phone? Drops, water exposure, etc.? It seems that the average person these days treats their $1000 device as if it were chew toy -- not saying you are, but physical damage is all too common. It's why getting insurance for the phone can be a good idea.
