is my phone, compatible with 5G?

My carrier, Consumer Cellular, is stating I need to replace my 3 year old phone to utilize 5G, VOLTE and Samsung website states my S9 is compatible.

The phone isn't 5G compatible, but should be VoLTE compatible and remain fully functional. 5G is far from mature enough to make a difference in day to day use, so I wouldn't sweat it.

Welcome to Android Central! It seems that carriers can be a little sneaky (or maybe just clueless) about whether a phone will work on VoLTE with their networks. I've seen threads here where a carrier told someone their phone wouldn't support VoLTE on their network, and yet it still worked. But there may also be a legitimate incompatibility with the network, even if the phone supports VoLTE on other networks. You could always try to keep using it on Consumer Cellular, but if you find that you suddenly can't make calls, then you'll have to change to a phone that is compatible.
