Is my Pixel 7 dying after less than 2 yrs?

I have a Pixel 7 that's less than two years old. Lately, I've had a lot of problems with it.

Last week, I shut it off at night and charged it overnight. When I went to bed, the battery was at 90 percent. When I woke up the next morning, it was at 10 percent and I had a hard time getting it to charge. Several restarts later, it suddenly had the battery at 100 percent again.

When I first turn my phone on in the morning, I've gotten a black screen saying my phone cannot load the Android system. It has taken multiple "try again" attempts to get past that.

I then did a factory reset on my phone yesterday. I didn't get the system error this morning, but my battery dropped to 69 percent overnight, despite being turned off and charging. It was at 85+ percent when I went to bed. This was a different charging cable than last week.

Does anyone have any theories here?

I'm hoping I don't need to start looking for a new phone less than two years after getting a flagship, but something is definitely not right with my Pixel 7.

Welcome. I’ve moved your thread to the Pixel 7 subforum, where other users may be able to help.

I guess it could possibly be a bad battery, though I’m far from sure that that would be likely to cause all the failures you describe. Does it make a difference if you use the phone while still charging?

The phone is charging really slowly today. It's only gone from 68 to 85 in about 4 hours time.

I haven't noticed dramatic drops while still charging it, but I can't understand the big drops at night at while charging and off. And I've tried different cables.

The other issue about not being able to load the system is also fine, once I'm able to get past it.

I do need a solution though, as a reliable, properly working phone is a necessity. For my phone to be having these issues, something is not right but what?

I thought a factory reset might solve everything but it didn't.

I'll also add, my phone was on this morning and only charged from 68-85 in four hours time. I just turned it off and then back on, and the battery was at 100 percent even though the phone just indicated 85 before I turned it off.

Something is definitely not right.

Welcome to Android Central! Try installing Accubattery and look at the Battery Health. You'll have to go through a few charge cycles before it can report an accurate health. Anything <85% is generally considered a failing battery.
