Is nexus 6 worth it?

I love this phone. Before owning the N6, I've used Notes and Galaxy's both owning and work phones and I've been disappointed with build and performance.

Now I've worked out my battery life issues I cannot as yet fault it.

Amazing screen, very fast and responsive, the size does not bother me as I have a 6+ too, the touchscreen is very responsive and the speakers are very good :)

Thats a window mount, the Lerway that I'm using for my N5 mounts on the airconditioner vent which is much better because you don't have to reach to touch the screen. When you get it please let me know if it has a vent mount included or if it's just a suction cup mount.

Wait till there are sufficient users out there. Motorola is a great company, personally, I use a Moto G myself and it works great. But I highly would wait until it is released to the entire public like stores and etc.

I'm pretty sure it can be a dash mount too. But I'll give you a heads up on the vent mount options.

I owned a Nexus 5 (wife still has one)... and I thought it was an excellent phone. But to be honest, over time, the 5's shortcomings started to grate on me. First and foremost, I started to tire of having to deal with power management... they put way too small a battery in that thing. Second, the camera's Jekyll & Hyde focusing capabilities also got on my nerves.

The Nexus 6 addressed both of those needs by a wide margin.... As big as it is, I can still use it 1 handed. It's fast, smooth, stable.... If I had to go back to the Nexus 5 at this point, I would not be a happy camper.

I tried the N6 at the Tmo store and it didn't seem any faster than my N5. If you want a bigger screen, that would be the only reason I see to upgrade. I'm staying with the N5 until later this year when a new Nexus device comes out.

I will say I don't think its a failed program. And the speed and screen are amazing. I found a qi dashboard mount that fits the nexus 6 on amazon. The thing about the 810 processor is a faster one will be out by November. You'll wait forever playing that game. But good luck with whatever you choose.

Yup... I saw something earlier today that had a Qualcomm Road map and the 820 processor coming out late 2015/early 2016..... You can't chase technology unless you just have unlimited disposable income... buy what is best on the market at the time that fits your needs and likes and just deal with it for "X" amount of time....(Until you can afford to upgrade) Something faster and better is just around the corner...

My carrier is scheduled to get the nexus 6 next month and at the moment I love my nexus 5 a lot. So what I'm wondering is the nexus 6 a huge upgrade? As in specs wise.

For me it was well worth the upgrade from the Nexus 5..... I had the Nexus 5 for a full year and I've had my Nexus 6 for two months now and it's just an amazing device/upgrade over the 5... The bigger screen and overall size and weight took a little getting use to... But after a couple of days I went back to my 5 and just couldn't go back down to the smaller size..

To each his own.. Some people love it and some people hate it and there are plenty of people in the middle as well... In my humble opinion and in my real world use it was a major upgrade over the 5.. Battery life isn't as good as I thought it would be based on the battery saving features highlighted in 5.0 and with the larger battery pack.. BUT it easily last twice as long as my 5 did (I've found 12 - 16 hours with 3 - 5 screen on time is easily done on the 6)

Well, I still have both (until I switch out my wife's N5). In terms of the mundane, every day UI performance... transitioning between windows, opening the app drawer and settings, etc. The two are pretty close in terms of how snappy they are. Its not a knock on the Nexus 6 really, the Nexus 5 is still one of the smoothest performers out there. And in terms of graphical performance, the jump in resolution offsets the jump in processing power a bit. Where things kind of diverge is when you start to do some heavy lifting.... the 6 is just a half step quicker.

Granted, it isn't much though. But that's where we are at with phones anyhow. The Snapdragon 800/1 class of phones are still excellent performers. If you are looking for raw performance, yeah, you'll most likely want to skip a generation. But even then, its a law of diminishing returns. New processors will only be incrementally quicker... speed is harder to stop when the difference is 0.5 vs 0.75 where not long ago it was more like 2.5s vs 5s....

That being said, its the ancillary bits where the Nexus 6 shines.... speakers, screen, battery, camera. That's where things aren't so closely matched.

Exactly... the 801 to 805 wasn't a major leap in technology... I am not even 100% sure the 810 is going to be such a major leap in technology.. and now the Snapdragon 820 is already being rumored for late 2015 first of 2016 devices.... and that seems to be a pretty big jump from what I read (if rumors/leaks are accurate) from the 810 to 820.... Overall the Nexus 6 is a great phone...

My old eyes can't really tell the difference between 720p and Quad HD. So for me, it's a non-issue.

Not sure what you mean about "heavy lifting", but my N5 has handled everything I've thrown at it.

I'm not trying to belittle the N6 as it is definitely nice, but for some of us it's just not worth it. To be honest, the "having the latest and greatest" in me wants one, but the "practical me" says I don't need one. Plus, I just bought a new set of golf clubs that will ultimately give me more pleasure than a nexus 6 would. I can wait until the 811 SD comes out and think of upgrading then. Right now, it's too close to being a lateral move to justify spending $600-700 on a new (not needed) phone.

But if you can afford it and want it, go for it.

I didn't think the Nexus 6 would be a big difference from my Nexus 5 either. But I got mine a week ago and I've been so happy with it. I'm very glad I did the upgrade but I can totally understand waiting it out too. I don't think I will ever go back to a smaller screen though. Between the speed, screen, speakers, feel of it in my hand...I feel like I'm finally carrying a personal computer in my pocket.

I'm reading such mixed reviews. The hardware seems awesome. The battery is big but apparently not enough juice and I read it's very slipper when being held. I'm just sp confused to get or not

Battery is just fine. Don't listen to the naysayers. :)
Get a case to protect your investment.

These are 2 reasons I've never upgraded until my 2 year contracts have been up. It generally takes that long for a phone's features and performance to advance enough to be worth the cost.

This is the first time I've gone off-contract. I'll probably hanker to upgrade earlier because I can, but I doubt pull the trigger when I do the cost-benefit analysis......

I'm not sure. I've had one for a few months now (well, two actually, had to return the first one because of constant reboots). I'm currently in the process of selling it and getting Note 4 instead. The N6 is enormous. The screen's great. What's not great is battery life (not as awful on mine as on other people's, but still sub par). The speakers suck - in theory, they should sound great, but both of my N6s had quite a bit of distortion in anything playing at over 60% volume. At the current price, I'd go for a Note 4
