Is QWERTY dead?

I miss my QWERTY phone!!!

Why oh why don't manufacturers make QWERTY Android phones anymore? Nothing else compares to them. Typing/swyping on a touch screen will never be as good as pressing tactile buttons with your thumb while hammering out texts. Back in the day, I didn't even need autocorrect because I was so accurate at texting on my QWERTY, it just wasn't needed. And with touchscreens, when that onscreen keyboard pops up it covers half the screen! What a waste of space.

The last phone I had was a Motorola Photon Q, and god I miss that phone. 90% of what I do on a smart phone is text/web browse, and having that physical QWERTY keyboard there made 90% of the experience better.

Why do manufacturers keep wasting our time with gimmicks that nobody wants? Nobody wants a phone with a curved edge, or a phone with a curved screen. Samsung will make 100 different models with giant tumorous camera lenses growing from the back of it, but they won't make one high-end QWERTY phone? Motorola had a beautiful thing going with their Droid line, but Verizon killed QWERTY by making the Droid line exclusive to them (and Sprint ruined the Photon Q by making it exclusive to them).

Come on manufacturers! All of your phones are essentially the same black slabs with a glass touchscreen on them. Give us a QWERTY every once in a while.

An updated Droid Pro with a 4 inch screen or an updated Photon Q on Verizon would be nice. Motorola made nice QWERTY devices.

Blackberry Classic is coming out soon. It runs Android apps. The Q10 is out now if you don't mine a smaller screen. Or get that weird passport.

Hi blackberry recently launched blackberry classic an excellent QWERTY smartphone with 2 GB ram and snapdragon processor it also has a touch screen if you are looking for a professional smartphone Blackberry Classic is ideal. Check Blackberry Classic Smartphone Specs and features.

I'm using a Kyrocera Rise currently o.O...it is really nice just it is a verrrrrrrry cheap phone...but it does look much better then the other QWERTY phones IMO..

Coming from someone with Wreck-iT Ralph sized hands.... if the Qwerty phone is dead, I'll happily dance in its tiny-keyed grave.

I also liked the QWERTY physical keyboard. I came from a Droid 3 and now have a G2 - I love the G2 but still make way more mistakes on the G2 than I did with the physical keyboard. The only savior is the autocorrect - but sometimes it's "too smart" in that it changes words I meant to type.

I should clarify that I like slide-out QWERTYs, not the QWERTYs that you find on a Blackberry.

It's a damn shame that they killed off Android QWERTYs for no good reason.

Some days I miss my slide out keyboard, some days I don't. When I owned an iPhone 4 (coming from a lg xenon before that), I missed my keyboard. I searched on amazon everyday for a smartphone with a slide out keyboard but had no luck. That's when I discovered they made cases that click onto your phone and include a qwerty keyboard. It connects via bluetooth and lets you use the physical keyboard instead of the on screen one. I haven't looked into these since, so I'm not sure if they're even being made anymore. But this was late 2011 when there was still a massive movement from keyboard phones to full touchscreen phones.

Edit: Above is a similar case made for the GS4
