Is Sprint losing its signal strength lately?

when i use roam control, it is always running off of verizon, even if i'm in sprintland.... it also only runs at 1x, not 3g in speed....

@ antmon, According to my reading it is normal that you get 1x instead of 3g because Sprint does not to pay Verizon 3g. It is very expensive $. They do not have any agreement. Sprint used to have an agreement with Alltel, Since, Alltel was bought by Verizon. Verizon does not roam on Sprint. It does not need to. Verizon has the best coverage.

I am here in Manhattan KS and its been crap last couple weeks i think we are getting 4g soon and that's why i guess but been having signal issues and data loss kinda sucks but according to sprint they will be done in a couple weeks...

According to the Sensorly App, there is 4G in the middle of Manhattan, KS already. Pick up the app if you can and map out the new service as it expands.

It may be all in my head, but I feel like I've been having more problems than usual recently as well. I've never had great service on campus but I was usually able to get at least 1-2 bars on 3g. Now I feel like I'm being throttled to 1X more and more often, and in areas where I should have service (like outside).

I've been getting kicked down to 1X more often lately as well, and it's definitely not in my head. My ROM shows when I have 1X or 3G. It's rather disconcerting.

Same here. Calls have been dropping left and right since the Froyo update dropped. Data's in the toilet too. Glad to know I'm not alone! I've done a PRL update and I even Factory Reset the phone. I do that every few months anyway. :)

So the other day when we went to get our Nexus S 4G, the rep told us Sprint, Att and Verizon are going through updating and/or tearing down old towers and installing new towers. However, they are taking down towers prior to putting up/turning on new towers to pick up the "slop" as it were. He said something like the new towers have a higher "bandwidth" so one new tower can do the job of 2 old towers. The contact I talked to said the midwest (IN, OH, MI, IL) should be up at full go by Q1 2012, so October to December I guess, in time to support the large influx of users for the upcoming Superbowl in Indianapolis. He was also under the impression Indianapolis should officially have 4G turned on by mid to late summer.

Reps are always full of crap, telling people what they want to hear. No way in hell are all three carriers ripping out their old towers and replacing them with new ones simultaneously across the country.

I agree with you. Sometimes reps do not even the specfication of the phone they are saling.
I know a lot about good phones. Reps know nothing.

I just looked at the Sprint coverage. I am very concerned about this situation not only people who use Samsung Epic are having problems. But, People who use Evo such my wife and her friends who have different Sprint devices.

I hope Sprint fixes this outrageous situation or I will leave them soon.

I'm still thinking this is partially an EC05 radio issue. My phone was going nuts today. I'm gonna have it checked out at the Sprint store, tho I'm hoping that won't be a waste of time.

I agree with you. But how do you explain the same problem with the Evo?
I bet they are having hard time dealing with Verizon. Verizon and the others hope that people get mad because of the weak Sprint signal, so they will switch to them. I believe this is going to happen. For instance, my wife has a separate account she pays a little bit less because one of her accound is not paying the $10 data add on. She says if she updates that line to a new phone she would be very close to what she paid if she was with Verizon. I believe she will be leaving Sprint soon.

I'm an evo user in Nyc on the latest prl and have been dropping alot of calls lately. My wife said she calls me alot and I don't answer. But I never got those calls.

So has anybody who has EC05 Modem flashed it back to the EB13 and noticed an improvement?
I too am on Syndicate Rom Frozen 1.1.0 and although i seem to hold a decent signl most of the time i am constantly plagued with slow data speeds.
